  • Are pets allowed?

Dogs are truly welcome at the hotel, and small to medium-sized companions can stay for a supplement of CHF 25 per dog, per day. To make their stay as comfortable as yours, a dedicated in-room set is prepared on arrival, ensuring a thoughtful and pet-friendly experience.

Guests travelling with dogs are kindly invited to inform us in advance, allowing our team to organise everything with care and attention.

While dogs are warmly welcomed, other animals including cats cannot be accommodated.

For those exploring Lugano with their dog, our front desk team will be pleased to suggest scenic walks, pet-friendly spots, and local experiences tailored to enjoy the city together, adding an extra layer of comfort and discovery to your stay.

  • Are the beds king or queen size?

Bed sizes vary depending on the room category and configuration, offering flexibility to suit different guest preferences.

In most room categories, beds are either 160 cm wide (standard double) or can be arranged as two single beds (2 × 90 cm). When configured as twin beds, the two mattresses can be placed together and enhanced with a dedicated topper system, creating a seamless sleeping surface without any noticeable separation, and ensuring comfort comparable to a single large bed.

The Basic Room features a 120 × 200 cm bed, designed for single occupancy.

While different setups are available, a guaranteed size of bed cannot be confirmed at the time of booking, as configurations depend on availability. Guests with specific preferences are encouraged to indicate them in advance so the most suitable arrangement can be allocated whenever possible.

  • Can I bring my own food into the room?

Guests are allowed to bring their own food into the room. Please note, however, that rooms are not equipped with a kitchen or heating facilities, so it is not possible to warm up meals independently.

For added convenience, a room service option is available, offering a curated menu that includes selected dishes inspired by the Flamel Restaurant as well as a range of international favourites. This allows guests to enjoy a comfortable in-room dining experience without the need for preparation.

  • Can I have two single beds in the room?

Twin bed configurations (two single beds) can be arranged in most room categories, offering flexibility for guests travelling together.

This option is available on request and subject to availability, so we recommend specifying your preference at the time of booking to ensure the most suitable room setup for your stay.

  • Can I use an iron in the room?

Irons are available for guest use and can be requested directly from the front desk during your stay.

They can be used free of charge for occasional use. If you prefer to keep an iron in your room for the entire stay, it can be arranged for a fee of CHF 9, subject to availability.

This flexible solution allows guests to easily take care of their clothing needs while maintaining a practical and comfortable in-room experience.

  • Do the rooms have a lake view?

Despite the rooms not having a lake view, the views from LuganoDante are pleasantly romantic and closely connected to the authentic character of the city.

Located in the heart of Lugano, the hotel overlooks Piazza Cioccaro and the charming surrounding lanes of the old town. Guests can enjoy atmospheric perspectives over pedestrian streets, intimate squares, and the distinctive rooftops of historic buildings, sometimes softened by touches of greenery between the architecture.

Situated in the heart of Lugano, it allows quick access to the lake, parks, shops, main attractions, and the railway station, making it ideal for exploring the city and the surrounding areas with children without the need for extensive travel.

This combination of practical in-room solutions and immediate access to the surrounding area ensures a comfortable and stress-free stay for families.

  • Do you have connecting rooms?

Connecting rooms are available and offer a comfortable and flexible solution for families travelling together, allowing everyone to enjoy both proximity and privacy during their stay.

This option is particularly appreciated by families, which also benefit of special rates and dedicated offers available throughout the year, making it easier to organise a stay that is both convenient and enjoyable. The hotel’s central location in Lugano further enhances the experience, with attractions, leisure activities, and services all within easy reach.

As availability is limited, we recommend requesting connecting rooms at the time of booking so that we can arrange the best possible setup for your stay.

  • Do you have rooms with a balcony?

LuganoDante offers rooms with a private balcony across several room categories.

If having a balcony is an important part of your stay, we recommend indicating your preference at the time of booking so our team can do their best to accommodate your request. Please note that balcony allocation is always subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed in advance.

The views from our balcony rooms reflect the authentic atmosphere of Lugano’s historic city centre. Guests can expect charming, romantic views over pedestrian streets, intimate squares, and the characteristic rooftops of the surrounding buildings, sometimes complemented by touches of greenery between the architecture. While these views offer a distinctly local and atmospheric experience, please note that our rooms do not feature lake views.

  • Is breakfast included in the stay?

Breakfast is generally included in most room rates, while some offers are available on a Room Only basis, so it ultimately depends on the rate plan selected. When breakfast is included, this is always clearly indicated in both the package details and the booking confirmation.

The LuganoDante breakfast has long been appreciated by guests and is considered a recognisable and well-loved part of the overall stay experience. The buffet offers a rich and varied selection that follows the rhythm of the seasons, with a thoughtful combination of fresh, high-quality ingredients, including locally sourced products that reflect the region.

Alternatively, it is always possible to enjoy the full buffet breakfast and pay directly on site at CHF 35 per person.

  • Is the hotel accessible for people with disabilities?

Yes. We have accessible rooms equipped for wheelchair guests and are OK:GO certified. The hotel offers: accessible entrance and public areas, lifts reaching every floor, accessible bathrooms with grab bars and a step-free shower, accessible routes to reception, restaurant and business centre, audible emergency alarm for visually impaired guests, menus for special dietary needs and feather-free pillows and duvets on request. Service dogs are welcome. Some of the conference rooms are not accessible to wheelchair users — contact the hotel for details.

  • Is the rooftop garden accessible?

The rooftop garden at Flamel—known as the hotel’s urban garden—can be visited, but access is limited and carefully managed.

Visits are generally possible on request, depending on weather conditions and the availability of the conference space, from which the space is accessible. For this reason, access is not guaranteed at all times, and it is recommended to check in advance.

It is important to note that the garden is not designed as a lounge or aperitif area, but rather as a cultivated and living space. It is part of the Flamel Urban Farming project, created to transform an unused terrace into a small urban ecosystem. Here, herbs and spices are grown and used fresh in the kitchen and in the Mixology Lab, contributing directly to the flavour profiles of dishes and house-made distillates.

Beyond its culinary role, the garden also supports biodiversity in the city centre. It hosts a variety of insects and small animals, including a hedgehog with its own nursery, bats, and a beehive introduced as part of the “Honey 4 Bees” initiative. The aim is not honey production for consumption, but to support pollination and contribute to a healthier urban ecosystem.

The project continues to evolve year after year, with new initiatives enriching both its environmental and social impact. Among the latest additions is a rainwater collection jar, used to irrigate part of the terrace. This feature was decorated by the users of OTAF, a foundation that supports people with special needs—turning a functional element into a meaningful, shared project. The participants were deeply engaged and proud to contribute to something that enhances the space, creating a tangible and positive connection with the local community.

Visiting the garden offers a quiet, behind-the-scenes glimpse into this sustainable approach to hospitality. As access depends on operational conditions, guests are encouraged to contact the hotel in advance to arrange a visit.

  • Is there a garden or shared terrace?

Flamel

  • Can a romantic dinner be arranged?

A romantic dinner can be thoughtfully arranged at LuganoDante, with the most complete experience offered at the Flamel restaurant. In this intimate and contemporary setting, guests can enjoy a curated 4- or 7-course tasting menu, available from Monday to Saturday, designed to guide them through a refined and balanced culinary journey.

The tasting menu is conceived to highlight seasonality, creativity, and harmony, unfolding through a sequence of carefully composed dishes that typically include appetizers, a first course, a main course, and dessert, with additional courses in the extended menu offering further depth and variety. Each dish is designed to express a distinct identity while contributing to a cohesive progression, making the experience particularly suited to a relaxed and meaningful evening.

Menus can also be thoughtfully adapted to accommodate individual dietary preferences or specific nutritional requirements, ensuring that each guest can fully enjoy the experience. To complement the journey, the tasting menu can be paired with a dedicated Mixology selection, where cocktails are crafted to enhance the flavors and rhythm of each course, offering an alternative and contemporary approach to traditional wine pairing.

  • Do you offer an aperitif with Ticino products?

At Flamel, the aperitif experience is centred around our signature Mixology concept, where cocktails—also available in non-alcoholic versions—are paired with a selection of freshly prepared bites and snacks from the kitchen, including our house-made sourdough focaccia.

While we do not offer a traditional Ticino-style aperitif based on cold cuts and cheese, our approach reflects a more contemporary interpretation of the aperitif moment. We collaborate with selected local producers, and their high-quality ingredients are present in our offering, reinterpreted through Flamel’s creative culinary style.

Guests can expect a more refined and original experience, where local products are thoughtfully transformed and elevated through technique, flavour balance, and presentation—while still maintaining a clear connection to the territory.

For those seeking a lively and distinctive aperitif in Lugano, Flamel offers a setting where craftsmanship, conviviality, and a modern sense of place come together in a recognisable and engaging way.

  • Do you organise gastronomic experiences or a Mixology Masterclass?

Yes, Flamel offers a range of gastronomic and Mixology experiences from Monday to Saturday, along with bookable Mixology Masterclasses.

Guests can enjoy a daily Mixology Tasting from the afternoon, with 3- or 5-cocktail tasting menus crafted using fresh distillates and seasonal botanicals. The experience can also be paired with bites designed to enhance each cocktail.

The Mixology Masterclass (from 2 participants) is a hands-on experience guided by our Mixologist, where guests learn essential techniques and create three cocktails of their choice in a relaxed and engaging setting.

For a more immersive experience, the “Create Your Own Gin & Dine” journey combines gin-making and dining: guests craft their own gin using selected botanicals, which they hand-pick in the urban garden on the rooftop, and enjoy a 4-course tasting dinner with wine and cocktail pairing. At the end, they receive a 500 ml bottle of their personalised gin.

All experiences are designed to be enjoyed as a couple or in a small group, offering a refined yet approachable way to discover the wonders of Mixology and Flamel philosophy.

  • Does Flamel offer a tasting menu?

Yes, Flamel restaurant offers both a 4-course and a 7-course tasting menu, available at dinner time from Monday to Saturday, alongside the à la carte selection.

The tasting menu is conceived as a culinary journey, where each dish reflects Flamel’s distinctive approach: a balance between creativity, precision, and a contemporary reinterpretation of flavours. Rather than focusing on a single tradition, the experience evolves through contrasts, textures, and carefully layered ingredients, offering a dynamic and engaging rhythm throughout the courses.

A defining element of the experience is the possibility to pair the dishes with Flamel’s Mixology creations, creating a natural dialogue between cuisine and cocktails. These pairings—also available in non-alcoholic versions—are designed to complement and enhance each course, transforming the dinner into a more immersive and exploratory experience.

On Sunday evenings, the atmosphere shifts to a more relaxed and informal setting, with a menu focused on international classics and approachable dishes. On that occasion, the tasting menu and the à la carte offering are not available.

As most dishes are prepared à la minute, many can be adapted according to individual preferences. For the best possible experience, it is recommended to inform the team of any allergies, intolerances, or dietary needs at the time of booking. Halal or Kosher dishes are not available.

Selected dishes are available for takeaway, particularly for lunch box options, while not all menu items can be prepared for this service. Dogs are welcome, and the restaurant is open throughout the day for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner.

  • Is the Flamel restaurant open to non-guests?

Yes, Flamel restaurant is open both to hotel guests and to visitors staying elsewhere in Lugano, and has become one of the city’s most sought-after dining experiences.

Flamel is a contemporary and lively venue where modern Mediterranean cuisine, a strong Mixology identity, and a carefully curated atmosphere come together to create a place that is as much about experience as it is about dining. From relaxed lunches to more structured dinners, each moment of the day is interpreted with balance and attention to detail, making it a natural meeting point for both locals and visitors.

Widely appreciated by Lugano’s residents as well as by travellers staying throughout the city, Flamel attracts a diverse and discerning clientele, contributing to its reputation as a vibrant and relevant part of the local dining scene.

To plan your visit or make a reservation, please visit Discover Flamel.

  • What is the Flamel Mixology Bar?

The Flamel Mixology Bar is a dynamic all-day destination that evolves from a relaxed Urban Café during the day to a refined Mixology experience in the evening, attracting both locals and international guests.

Throughout the day, it offers a welcoming setting for breakfast, coffee, or light meals, with freshly baked pastries, quality coffees, homemade juices—such as the iconic apple juice—and a selection of international classics.

At the heart of the concept is a strong focus on craftsmanship and local sourcing. The “98% Swiss” philosophy highlights high-quality ingredients, while cocktails are developed internally in our laboratory. Using a Rotavapor, a modern distillation system, spirits are re-distilled from Swiss alcohol with fresh herbs from the rooftop urban garden and selected spices, preserving vibrant and natural flavours. The result is a collection of cocktails that are expressive, fresh, lower in alcohol, and reduced in sugar.

A central experience of the bar is the Mixology Tasting, which introduces guests to a curated journey through signature cocktails, available also in a Mixology & Bites Tasting format, where drinks are paired with refined bites from the kitchen designed to enhance each flavour.

In the evening, the atmosphere becomes more vibrant and social, making it ideal for an aperitif or for a more immersive dining experience. The Mixology concept naturally extends to the table with a distinctive Mixology Pairing, allowing guests to enjoy a tasting dinner paired entirely with cocktails or in combination with wines.

  • What is the Flamel restaurant?

FLAMEL is LuganoDante's Restaurant and Mixology Bar, which offers a contemporary dining experience centred around a modern Mediterranean cuisine, where tradition and experimentation come together through refined techniques, balanced flavours, and a strong connection to seasonal ingredients.

The concept unfolds in two distinct moments, with an informal lunch and a more structured dinner experience. The kitchen follows the rhythm of the seasons, showcasing authentic Ticino ingredients and vegetables sourced from local farms, while herbs and spices are cultivated in our rooftop urban garden. The approach is rooted in respect for raw materials, enhancing genuine ingredients while reducing waste through thoughtful use.

FLAMEL is closely connected to our Mixology Bar, where cocktails are developed internally in our laboratory using fresh ingredients grown also in our rooftop garden and re‑distilled with a Rotavapor, our modern alembic. This allows us to offer a distinctive experience: a tasting dinner paired entirely with mixology cocktails instead of wine, or a more dynamic pairing alternating cocktails and wines. The wine selection itself remains carefully curated, with a balanced choice of local and international labels.

The culinary identity of Flamel is shaped by Chef Marco Piatti, whose approach combines classical foundations with a contemporary vision focused on seasonality, vegetables, and a conscious, sustainable use of ingredients.

  • What can I see in Lugano in one day?

With one day in Lugano, you can enjoy a well-balanced journey that combines lake landscapes, panoramic views, and cultural highlights, all easily accessible from the city centre.

Begin your day by the lakefront, where the atmosphere is at its most peaceful in the morning. From here, a lake cruise on Lake Lugano offers one of the most complete introductions to the region: you will glide between mountains that plunge directly into the water, passing picturesque villages such as Gandria, a former fishing village clinging to the hillside, and Morcote, often considered one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland, known for its arcaded promenade and terraced gardens.

After returning to Lugano, take the historic funicular up Monte San Salvatore. From the summit, you can enjoy one of the most iconic panoramas in Ticino, with a 360-degree view over the lake, the surrounding valleys, and the distant Alps—an essential stop to fully understand the geography of the region. Alternatively, or in addition if time allows, Monte Brè offers a different perspective, with a quieter, more rustic character and views particularly appreciated for sunset light.

In the afternoon, explore Lugano’s old town, just steps from LuganoDante. Walk along Via Nassa, the elegant shopping street, and continue towards the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura, the city’s contemporary cultural centre, which brings together architecture, theatre, and exhibitions. Nearby, the Church of Santa Maria degli Angioli houses one of the Renaissance’s most remarkable artworks in the region: the fresco of the Passion of Christ by Bernardino Luini, a master deeply influenced by Leonardo da Vinci.

For a quieter moment, a stroll through Parco Ciani, the lakeside park, offers shaded paths, elegant gardens, and refined views over the water—an ideal contrast to the lively centre.

To complete the day, you may wish to enjoy a refined moment at Flamel, with a mixology experience—also available in a non-alcoholic version—followed by a delightful dinner, offering a relaxed and engaging way to explore flavours, craftsmanship, and the convivial spirit of LuganoDante.

The presence of the Flamel restaurant and the Mixology Bar adds another layer, offering spaces to unwind, meet, or simply enjoy the setting without leaving the hotel.

For those travelling by car, an automated private garage with electric charging stations completes the experience with the same understated attention to detail.

Overall, LuganoDante is a hotel that adapts easily to different ways of travelling—offering a refined, contemporary stay that feels personal, well-balanced, and consistently considered.

How to reach us

  • Is an electric vehicle charging station available?

Electric vehicle charging can be arranged in the hotel’s private garage, subject to availability and an additional cost.

The hotel is conveniently accessible by car despite its central location in the pedestrian area, making it an excellent choice for guests travelling with an electric vehicle. Thanks to the straightforward access and well-organised garage system, arrival is designed to be smooth and effortless.

To ensure the best possible experience, we recommend requesting both parking and electric vehicle charging in advance when booking your stay, allowing the hotel to prepare everything for your arrival and provide a seamless start to your visit.

  • Is there a bus stop near the hotel?

Thanks to its central position in the historic old town, LuganoDante is well connected to public transport, with several bus stops located just a short walk away from the hotel.

Reaching the hotel from the railway station is particularly simple and convenient. The funicular departs directly inside the station and arrives in just a couple of minutes at its lower station on Piazza Cioccaro, right in front of the hotel, making it the most direct and effortless option for guests arriving by train.

This combination of nearby bus connections and immediate access to the funicular ensures smooth and easy mobility throughout the city, whether arriving, departing, or exploring Lugano.

  • Is there a connection to the airport?

The address to be used to set up a GPS navigation tool is different, though.
